In recent decades, the popularity of well-curved backs, such as those owned by celebrities in the media, has increased. With different methods, the shape of the buttocks can be modified, increased or reduced, depending on the particular wish of the person. Increasing the buttocks with one’s own fat is an intervention of some popularity, for example. In this case, the fat is sucked from the area around the waist, then filtered and purified, and reinjected into the buttocks. If any of these areas show some flaccidity, it may be necessary to retighten the skin, removing the excess surgically.

A second method, which is very successful, is the widening of the buttocks through the use of gluteal implants, in the so-called “Brazilian” or “Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)” method. This technique involves the introduction of implants between two layers of gluteal muscles, through a small incision hidden between the buttocks. The method delivers impressive, lasting and unhindered results for patients in their sporting or daily lives. This procedure must be performed by a surgeon with solid experience and training, and is therefore not available everywhere.

Increase with autologous fat (its own fat)

This procedure, usually performed on an ambulatory basis under local anesthesia with intravenous sedation, leaves no visible scars. But the procedure is only possible if the person has enough recoverable fat cells for transfer from the waist area to the buttocks area. A person with a good level of fitness does not always have excess fat available. If this is the case, consider the other method with intramuscular gluteal implants. This method is also the method of choice in cases where one wishes a larger buttocks or more curved buttocks.

Surgery

The implantation of intramuscular Buttock Implant is performed in epidural anesthesia, in an operation that lasts about 1-2 hours in total. The patients then stay at the clinic for the night, accompanied by a night nurse.

Healing after autologous fat augmentation

The first phase of convalescence lasts 3-5 days. A slight pain may be present but is easily controlled by taking analgesics that will be provided by the clinic.

Healing after augmentation by implant placement

The first phase of recovery lasts about two weeks. Any pain that occurs after Butt Implants is eliminated by appropriate means. During the first week, full flexion of the hip is limited to ensure accurate healing of affected areas.
