Are you having problems keeping an erection? Is it preventing you from having sex? It could easily be because of a condition called erectile dysfunction. Not being able to get an erection occasionally could be normal, but if it happens often then it could be because of this condition. The first thing you want to do if you believe you have it is to visit your doctor but till then, let’s discuss some possible symptoms, causes, and solutions.
The symptoms of ED are very straightforward. If you are having a hard time getting or maintaining an erection during sexual activities, then it could be because of erectile dysfunction. This doesn’t mean that if it happens once or twice, you have the condition, but rather if it persists regularly. Some other common symptoms could be reduced interest in sexual desires and premature or delayed ejaculation. You should visit your family doctor as soon as possible if you believe you have these symptoms as they can help to resolve it before it worsens.
Erectile dysfunctions can be caused by a psychological or physical issue or a combination of the two. The brain is where the signals for sexual desires are first triggered so psychological issues such as stress, anxiety, and depression can be some causes of a prevention of an erection. But it isn’t just limited to the issues of the brain. It could easily be because of physical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity, increased age, increased alcohol or tobacco use, sleep disorders, etc. These are some physical conditions that could be the cause of your ed. If you have any of these conditions, make sure to mention it to your doctor.
The treatment plan for erectile dysfunction could vary from person to person depending on the root cause of it. This is why consulting a doctor is highly recommended. Once the root cause is found then the doctor can suggest ways to resolve it. Resolving it is usually done with a mixture of treatments such as therapy (for stress, anxiety, etc), medications, and changing lifestyle habits. There are also many E.D. medications out there that might be helpful in resolving this issue. These medications help to stimulate blood flow to the penis to help keep or get an erection. However, these medications can have side effects so talk to your doctor to see if ed medication is the right treatment for you.
Erectile dysfunction can also be prevented if the correct precautions are taken. This all starts with building a healthy overall lifestyle. That includes letting go of unhealthy habits such as drinking, smoking, or harmful drug use. Concurrently, you should build healthy habits such as exercising daily, meditating to reduce stress and anxiety, and eating healthy foods. These can reduce or prevent not just erectile dysfunction but most of all the other common conditions that people face on a day to day basis. If you are having problems building these habits, ask your doctor for steps you can take to successful build these habits.
